Happy International Women's Day! 💜💚🤍

Happy International Women's Day! 💜💚🤍

International Women’s Day is always a moment for us to pause.

It’s a day to celebrate creativity, resilience, individuality, and the voices that shape culture, while also recognising that many of the challenges women have faced for generations still exist today. Since 1911, International Women’s Day has belonged to everyone who believes in equality, and for us, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the women whose work, ideas, and energy shape everything we do.

Behind every collection, every illustration, and every design is a group of incredibly talented women whose creativity drives 45 Original forward. Today we want to celebrate them - not just for what they create, but for who they are.

The Women Behind Our Work

Our In-House Illustrators

Amber Lily Eddy - In-House Illustrator 🎨🇬🇧 🇦🇺

Amber is a North London–born illustrator and printmaker whose work captures the spirit of place and community. After studying Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton, she returned to London and began bringing familiar neighbourhoods to life through detailed, playful linework. Her illustrations of the Camden and Hampstead & Highgate pub collections celebrate not just architecture, but the stories, characters, and everyday moments that make each space unique - turning buildings into living memories of London’s social culture. She is currently working from Australia, putting the final touches on our upcoming Whitstable print collection!

Lilia Mannarini - In-House Illustrator 🎨🇮🇹🇬🇧

Originally from Milan, Lilia arrived in London intending to stay only briefly- and ended up building a creative life rooted in the city’s culture and music scene. Known for her distinctive handwritten typography and architectural detail, she began her journey drawing chalkboards in local pubs before becoming a senior designer working on major live music and creative campaigns. Her illustrations reflect both her love of architecture and her passion for music and subculture, capturing the character and identity of East London through projects like the Hackney Pub Crawl.

Guest Designers

Collaboration has always been central to what we do, and our guest designers bring new perspectives that challenge and inspire us.

Gaye Black - Guest Designer 🖤🎨

Gaye’s work embodies the spirit of music culture and creative independence that runs through our collections. Her contributions sit naturally within our world of subculture-inspired design, drawing on bold visual language and strong cultural references that echo the rebellious energy behind projects like Women in Music and our punk-influenced collections.

Barbara Galinska - Guest Designer 🇵🇱✒️🎨

Barbara’s designs add a distinctive voice to our guest artist collaborations, contributing to collections that celebrate music history and cultural movements. Her work brings clarity, structure, and strong visual storytelling, helping expand our artistic range while staying rooted in the shared love of music, design, and creative heritage that defines our brand.

Together, these artists shape the personality and direction of everything we create - each bringing a different perspective, background, and creative instinct.

Art With Meaning

International Women’s Day is also about recognising the stories we choose to tell and the causes we choose to support.

Through collections like Women in Music, and designs such as God Save The Queens, 1977 Punk Rock, and Stop War, we aim to celebrate individuality, challenge expectations, and reflect the cultural movements that continue to inspire us. We are also proud to support organisations like CARE, whose work advocating for women globally reminds us that creativity and compassion are deeply connected. Registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (Charity No. 292506).

Why This Day Matters to Us

For us, International Women’s Day is deeply personal. It’s about the women we collaborate with, the artists whose work inspires us, and the communities that shape our journey.

Today is a celebration - but it’s also a reminder to continue creating space for voices, stories, and perspectives that deserve to be seen and heard.

Happy International Women’s Day.💜💚 🤍
