“I graduated in architecture but found my passion in using artistic skills differently. I worked in animations, cartoon films, and as an illustrator/graphic designer. Since 2015, I've focused on calligraphy, exploring diverse letter compositions. My works range from playful ambigrams to impactful pieces addressing global issues like the Women's Strike and the war in Ukraine. Born after World War II, with family history tied to Auschwitz, I rebel against extreme evil through my calligraphy.

My notable work, "STOP WAR," originated from an international calligraphy challenge, reflecting the ongoing war in Ukraine and the emergence of a new chapter in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The red letters of "STOP" bind the black "WAR," creating an anxiety-inducing maze.

Surprisingly, the graphic gained global recognition, appearing on murals, posters, and T-shirts worldwide. The overwhelming response feels like a world exhibition of one work, surpassing the reach of my previous calligraphic pieces. Though I don't expect magic solutions, I hope the sign becomes a universal symbol for peace. Once that dream is realised, I'll return to the beauty of calligraphy. - Barbara Galińska”
